JAIPUR: Important decisions were made in the first cabinet meeting of the Bhajanlal government on Thursday.
One decision was to extend the date for the main examination of Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS).
The committee will also review decisions made by the Gehlot government over the past 6 months and submit a report in three months.
There will be no public holiday on January 22, and there was no discussion about a holiday for Ramlala’s consecration.
Before the hour-long meeting, prayers and Swasti recitation took place in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) followed by tilak being applied to CM Bhajanlal Sharma, Deputy CMs Diya Kumari and Premchand Bairwa, and all ministers.
The priest at Sachivalaya temple said it was the first time in 33 years that a puja was conducted before any meeting. The cabinet meeting took place 34 days after forming the government.
BJP leader Rajendra Rathod welcomed extending RAS Mains exam date, saying it showed sympathy towards candidates’ demands from their strike outside Rajasthan University.
Education Minister Madan Dilawar and Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirodilal Meena assured them that their demands would be conveyed to CM Bhajanlal Sharma.
On December 15, CM Bhajanlal Sharma along with Deputy CMs Diya Kumari and Premchand Bairwa took oath, officially forming his cabinet with 12 Cabinet Ministers and 10 Ministers of State (including those with independent charge).
However, questions arose regarding delays in holding this first cabinet meeting as many ministers had expressed concerns to CM Bhajanlal Sharma beforehand. Ultimately, it was decided to call for this inaugural cabinet gathering
