Internet services snapped and section 144 imposed in Hanumangarh and Sriganganagar district ahead of Ram Rahim rape verdict.

Jaipur: Self-styled godman – Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh – has been accused of ordering kidnap of a married woman from Jaipur two years ago. The woman who was 23-year at that time is still missing.

The FIR had been registered with the Jaipur police in 2015, but the family members of the woman alleged that the police under pressure of the self-styled godman filed a final report and closed the case. The family members on Saturday moved a protest petition in the court of additional chief judicial magistrate (ACJM) (No- 7) , requesting it to order the police to reopen the case. The petition will come up for hearing on September 7.

The girl’s lawyer Babulal Bairwa said that the woman, a resident of Jagatpura slum area, was taken to Dera Sacha Sauda in Haryana’s Sirsa by a sewadar of Ram Rahim. One DPS Dutta who was allegedly managing director of the Dera Sacha Sauda was also named in the FIR when the woman – Guddi – went missing, Bairwa told the PinkCity Post.

“The police closed the case on ridiculous grounds, addressing Ram Rahim as Guruji in the final report (FR) and even refused to admit the existence of DPS Dutta. The police admitted that the woman had gone missing from Dera Sacha Sauda, but said since Ram Rahim has Z-plus security, they were unable to interrogate him,” said Bairwa.

He added that the court will hear the evidence in the case on September 7 and take a decision whether to order the police to reopen the case. Ram Rahim has been accused of criminal conspiracy in a case registered under section 365 of IPC for kidnap.

A Panchkula court convicted the self-styled godman in a case of sexual harassment. The case, filed in 2002, accuses Ram Rahim of sexually exploiting two women followers at his ashram; he has denied any wrongdoing.

Separately, a court has asked the CBI to investigate whether he encouraged 400 men to undergo castration, promising it would benefit them spiritually. The verdict came on Friday afternoon. The self-styled godman was held guilty of rape by a Panchkula court.

More than 30 people have been killed and hundreds of others injured in incidents of violence after Ram Rahim was jailed.
