Jaipur: The process to get a driving license is soon going to be smooth and hassle free in Rajasthan. All regional transport offices (RTOs) will introduce digital queue management system on the lines of the similar arrangement in the Passport Offices in order to make the process easier and get rid of the involvement of middlemen. The system may be launched by the end of this financial year, RTO sources said. The tender process to set up and maintain the system will begin soon.

“In order to avoid queues at the RTOs, many people fall prey to middlemen. Now we will launch a queue management system which will streamline the process to get a driving license at all the RTOs. In fact, it is being started on a pilot project basis at Jaipur, Kota, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Dausa, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Alwar, Pali, Sikar and Chittorgarh,” said a senior transport department officer.

He added that the people can apply for driving license, vehicle registration, vehicle fitness certificate, permits and other documents online after the introduction of the queue management system.

“Like Passport Offices, the people will be able to get an appointment online for a specific date and time. After the applicant turns up on that specific date and time, he or she will be handled by RTO employees who will upload documents and process fee and other formalities. The documents will be verified and the license will be sent to the applicant’s address through mail,” said the officer.
