Jaipur: Of the 33 districts in Rajasthan, 14 have no active Covid-19 cases. While this is a big relief for the state government, the number of active cases increased on Monday. The state reported seven new Covid-19 cases, but none of the patients who are currently admitted to hospitals for Covid-19 treatment recovered on Monday. It caused the number of active cases to increase to 159 from 152 on Sunday.

The 14 districts that don’t have any active cases currently include Sirohi, Rajsamand, Pratapgarh, Kota, Karuali, Jhunjhunu, Jalore, Jaisalmer, Dungarpur, Dausa, Churu, Chittorgarh, Bundi and Banswara. Some others districts including Baran, Barmer, Dholpur, Hanumangarh, Pali and Tonk have only one active case each.

On Monday, Jaipur reported 4 new Covid-19 cases, while Alwar, Bikaner and Jhalawar reported one case each. What has worried the authorities is the fact there was no recovery on Monday.

In a review meeting presided over by Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot recently, experts had warned that the third wave of coronavirus might hit the state soon, especially due to the festivities. People celebrated Raksha Bandhan on Sunday. Most people were seen without masks and social distancing guidelines were flouted. Over 3 crore people have received at least one dose of Covid-19, while less than 1 crore have been fully vaccinated.
