Rajasthan: Children orphaned by Covid-19 to get monthly financial aid

Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has announced the Chief Minister Corona Child Welfare Scheme for children whose parents died of Covid-19. The scheme also makes provisions of financial aid for widowed women. The children will get financial assistance of Rs 25,00 along with Rs 1 lakh as a one-time compensation amount. Another amount of Rs 5 lakh will be provided to these children when they are 18-year-old. The women who lost their husbands due to Covid get the same amount of one-time compensation, while the monthly financial aid of Rs 15,00.

Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot announced this scheme on Saturday. He said that the monthly financial aid would ensure the children were able to pursue studies. The government will also provide these children free of cost education till Class 12. They will be provided free boarding at government hostels. The girl students will get priority in the hostels run by the government, while the students studying in the college will be provided the benefit of the Ambedkar DBT voucher scheme for residential facilities. Also, the youth who are unemployed will be given priority in unemployment allowance under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Sambal Yojana.

While the monthly compensation of Rs 1500 has been announced for widows, the amount will be Rs 2500 if they have children. An additional amount of Rs 2000 will be provided annually to these women to buy school books and clothes for their children.
