Rajasthan: CBI raids home of Pali-based central excise and customs officer

CBI registers a disproportionate assets case against a ‘preventive officer’ of the department.

Jaipur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday registered a case of amassing disproportionate assets  against Parmanand Singariya, a ‘preventive officer’ of central excise and customs department deputed in Mumbai. A CBI team raided the officer’s house in Sojat City in Pali district of Rajasthan.

A CBI spokesperson said that the case was registered under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The officer was found in possession of disproportionate assets worth nearly Rs 24.65 lakh.

Searches were conducted today at the residential premises of accused at Mumbai and Sojat City, District Pali (Rajasthan) which led to recovery of cash of Rs 17 lakh, US dollar currency worth Rs 1 lakh, FDRs worth Rs. 16 lakh nd credit balance of about Rs. 14 lakh in different bank accounts and other investment papers.

An investigation in the matter is continuing, the spokesperson said.
