Rajasthan ATS arrests ex-army jawan for defrauding unemployed youths

The accused man, identified as Ramchandra, a resident of Jaitsar in Sriganganagar, allegedly defrauded nearly 50 candidates of Rs 1 crore. The candidates belonged to Barmer, Jalore, Nagaur and Bikaner districts.

Jaipur: Rajasthan ATS in joint operation with military intelligence has arrested a former army jawan who is an alleged kingpin of a gang involved in defrauding youngsters of money by promising jobs in the army.

The accused man, identified as Ramchandra, a resident of Jaitsar in Sriganganagar, allegedly defrauded nearly 50 candidates of Rs 1 crore. The candidates belonged to Barmer, Jalore, Nagaur and Bikaner districts.

ADG SOG & ATS Umesh Mishra said that the ATS got a tip off about Ramchandra. “We got the information about Ramchandra meeting some candidates in Suratgarh where he was to strike a deal with several young men wanting jobs in the army,” said the officer.

An ATS team was formed to nab Ramchandra. In a joint operation with the military intelligence, ATS arrested Ramchandra from Suratgarh on Wednesday.

Ramchandra was arrested for frauds by the police in the past too. He was accused of gangrape by a woman in 2017 and a case in this regard was registered with Hanumangarh police.

ATS officials said that some aides of Ramchandra are also under scanner and further investigation is going on.
