Jaipur: A 33-year-old property businessman identified as Omi Meena succumbed to bullet injuries a day after some men attacked him with iron rods and sticks at his office near SKIT University in Jagatpura on Saturday.

An FIR has been lodged against nine accused with Pratap Nagar police station in connection with the murder. Police suspect it that the attack was the fall out of business rivalry.

Omprakash Meena alias Omi Meena was a resident of Meenavala area near Sirsi road of Jaipur. He was a businessman and property dealer. He used to visit his brother’s office near SKIT University at Jagatpura often. They both were property dealers and used to work together.

According to ACP of Sanganer Poonam Chand Vishnoi, the deceased Omi Meena was at his brother’s office near SKIT on Saturday. Suddenly, more than a dozen men came in three cars with iron rods, sticks and hockey sticks and entered the office. They started beating Omi with weapons brutally. When Omi’s brother tried to save him, the accused attacked him too.

The accused fled from the spot, leaving Omi behind in a pool of blood. He sustained serious injuries on his arms, legs, and head. Omi’s brother rushed him to the nearby hospital. He then was referred to SMS hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

Omi’s brother has lodged a FIR against 9 men including Kamal Meena, a resident of Bhakrota area of Jaipur. Kamal used to work with Omi. They fell out with each due to some disputes.

According to Omi’s brother, Kamal allegedly felt insecure as Omi was doing great compared to him in business. This could be the reason behind the murder. Also, Omi had allegedly received several threats from Kamal in the past.

Police launched a search for the nine men but even after two days after the incident, no accused has been arrested. Further investigation is going on.
