PNB branch robbery attempt in Jhotwara: Cashier shot at by robbers

The miscreants kept three bank employees hostage in a room and made an attempt to rob them.

JAIPUR:. Two masked miscreants entered a Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch in Jhotwara, Jaipur, on Friday morning with weapons and attempted to rob it. The cashier, Narendra Singh Shekhawat, tried to confront the robbers but was shot in the stomach by one of them.

The incident took place at around 9:45 am when the bank was open for business. The miscreants kept the three bank employees hostage in a room and made an attempt to rob them.

However, their plan failed when the cashier entered the room and clashed with them. During the scuffle, one of the miscreants fired a bullet that hit the cashier.

Police were informed about the incident shortly after it occurred, and they reached the spot quickly. A woman constable from nearby Chetak police station managed to catch one of the accused criminals, Bharat Singh (a resident of Kotputli), who had brought his cousin for the robbery.

The second criminal, Manoj Meena (also from Kotputli), managed to flee from the spot but was later caught by police at around 12:30 pm with an injured leg.

Both criminals are currently undergoing treatment at Kanwatiya hospital following their attempted robbery and assault on bank employees.

The investigation revealed that both criminals first went to the bank’s ATM before entering through a side door inside; they stayed there for some time before attacking their hostages in a different part of the building .

Police imposed a blockade on all roads leading to Jaipur city after this daring attempt to commit armed robbery inside a crowded bank premises . CCTV footage from nearby shops also captured images of one suspect running away frantically following the shooting incident . As per initial reports , no other person sustained any serious injuries.
