Jaipur: People have to run from pillar to post to get marriage, birth and death certificates from Jaipur Municipal Corporation offices. Now they will be able to get these certificates online through e-Mitra centres. The certificates will be home delivered by JMC. The Rajasthan government has instructed the administration of both municipal corporations in Jaipur to make all preparations in this regard.

The project will initially be launched in Jaipur and Jodhpur. If successful, it will be extended to other municipal corporations and municipalities across the state.

People will have to apply for these certificates at their nearest e-Mitra centre. The centre will process the applications and forward it to the concerned municipal corporation. The certificate will be prepared by the registrar’s office at JMC and delivered to the applicant’s address.

The e-Mitra centre will charge a maximum of Rs 30 for the certificate. They would need to post the charges prominently outside the centre so that people don’t pay more than the prescribed amount.

A JMC officer said that this would make getting marriage, death and birth certificates a lot easier because currently, people have to visit the municipal corporation offices several times for this.

“If a complaint of irregularity is received against an e-Mitra centre, action would be taken against it. The municipal corporation will be authorized to cancel the license of the e-Mitra centre,” said the officer.
