NIA special court frames charges against 9 accused in Kanhaiya Lal murder case

JAIPUR: The NIA Special Court has framed charges against 9 accused in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case, including terrorist activities, murder, and conspiracy. The charges were framed on Thursday against all accused for their alleged involvement in the crime that took place on June 28, 2022.
According to the charge sheet presented by the NIA, the accused hatched a criminal conspiracy by forming a group on WhatsApp to slit Kanhaiya Lal’s throat in the name of religion. The investigation has proven that all of them were involved in a criminal conspiracy and have been charged with murder, insulting other religions and castes, and being involved in terrorist activities.
The charges against Farhad Mohammad have been framed under various sections of the Arms Act as well as for his involvement in terrorist activities, murder, and conspiracy. His lawyer Akhil Chaudhary has announced plans to appeal this order in the High Court.
The NIA had presented its challan on December 22, 2022, and taking cognizance of the offenses committed under various laws including UAP Act and Arms Act on February 9, 2023. The main accused Ghaus Mohammad and Mohammad Riyaz Attari have been declared absconding by the NIA.
