NIA professor drowns in swimming pool

Jaipur: Associate professor of National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA) Dr Govind Pareek died after nearly three days after he drowned in a swimming pool in the Janakidevi Public School.

The death shocked the students and staff of this prestigious Ayurveda institute. The victim’s brother has registered an FIR alleging negligence on part of the swimming pool owner.

The incident happened on May 30. The professor died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

Jankidevi Public School is in situated in Sector – 19 of Pratap Nagar area in Jaipur. The new swimming batch at the school started from May 19. Dr Govind Pareek had enrolled and was going for swimming since May 25.

On May 30, he drowned. He was immediately rushed to Narayana Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

The victim’s brother alleged that there was negligence on part of the swimming pool owner and school administration. He alleged that the police have taken no action in the matter even three days after the FIR was lodged.

The body was handed over to the family members after a post-mortem examination.

The student and staff at NIA mourned the death of the associate professor.

NIA is operated under the Department of AYUSH and known for Ayurveda training and research.
