Jaipur: The building housing the new arrival hall at Jaipur International Airport will be thrown open for public on December 15. The new arrival hall will ease the congestion at the airport, the airport officials said. The construction of the building had been completed in July but it had not been made available for the passengers as some electrical work is pending.

“There will be three conveyor belts in the new building. It will reduce the time that it takes for the passengers to get their luggage. It will also ease the congestions as the arrival and departure routes for passengers will now be completely segregated,” said the officer.

Currently, there are only two conveyor belts. Of them, one is usually kept reserved for international flights.

“In the peak hours of morning and evening, up to 5 flights land at the airport at the same time. The luggage of all the passengers is transferred through a single conveyor belt. It sometimes creates confusion,” said the officer.

The current daily footfall at the airport is about 17,000 passengers.

“The work on the new building had been finished in July and we successfully tested the new arrival hall for Haj passengers recently. We are now ready to inaugurated it,” said the officer.
