Neemrana firing case: Jeweller, shopkeeper shot at, robbed of valuables worth Rs 25 lakh

Jaipur: Unidentified robbers opened firing at jewellery showroom owner, identified as Kailash Chandra Sharma and a grocery shopkeeper, Damodar, at Krishna Tower in Neemrana town of Alwar district on Sunday afternoon. One of them sustained bullet injuries, according preliminary reports.

The robbery took place nearly 200 meters from ASP office in the RIICO industrial area, raising question marks over the law and order situation. The robbers made away with jewellery and other valuables worth at least Rs 25 lakh, according to preliminary reports.

Kailash Chandra Sharma is the owner of Yogesh Jewellers, while Damodar runs Khandelwal Kirana store. The victims were rushed to a hospital where their condition is stated to be stable. The locals alleged that the robbers remained in the jewellery shops and then looted the grocery store for almost 15 minutes, but the police didn’t arrive at the spot on time. They collected the valuables and left fearlessly, locals alleged.

Sources said that the robbers have been identified. Police have been formed to trace them and raids were going on at several places near Neemrana. Footages of CCTVs installed inside the shops and in the area were being examined.

Besides Neemrana police, the teams of Shahjanhapur, Behror, Mandhan, Harsora and Kishangarhbas police have also been roped in to find the robbers.

The incident created panic among the shopkeepers and customers who were present in the tower.

The incidents of daylight robberies involving violence are happing across the state.

A dairy collection agent had been shot dead in Nandpuri area of Sodala in Jaipur last month. The police later arrested four men.
