Jaipur: The Rajasthan high court on Wednesday issued a notice to the Speaker of state assembly CP Joshi and sought an explanation on the plea against the merger of six BSP MLAs with Congress. The plea has been filed by BJP MLA Madan Dilawar and BSP. The matter will come up for hearing on Thursday.

Dilawar and BSP had approached the double bench of the court against the order issued by the single bench in this regard. the double bench of Chief Justice Indrajeet Mohanty and Justice Prakash Gupta issued a notice to the Speaker, requiring the latter to submit a reply by 10.30 am on Thursday.

In the plea, the BSP and BJP MLA has sought a stay on the merger of the six BSP MLAs with the Congress.

The single bench of the high court had issued a notice to six MLAs and Speaker among others and sought reply from them by August 11. But the BSP moved the double bench stating that it was not feasible to make the MLAs comply with the notice instructions. The BSP also sought a stay on the BSP MLAs participating in the floor test in the assembly till the matter was in the court.
