Jaipur: BJP MLA from Malpura constituency of Tonk district – Kanhiya Lal – said in the Rajasthan assembly on Friday that over 600 Hindu families have left Mallpura due to ‘land jihad’. He said that Malpura had become a very communally sensitive town. People from another community offer hefty prices to purchase land and houses of Hindu families. After moving in, they start threatening neighbors to force them to sell off their properties and move out.

Kanhiya Lal said that over 100 people have been killed in communal violence and riots in Malpura since 1950. Hindu families are being threatened and harassed. Some people approached the local sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) and tried to hand over a memorandum, but he refused to even accept it.

Kanhiya Lal demanded immediate intervention of the government and said if nothing was done to control the exodus of the Hindu families, the situation will get ‘explosive’. He said that administration officers have been approached by the local Hindu families for protection from anti-social elements, but no action has been taken in this regard.

The BJP has been raising the issues of the alleged exodus of Hindu families from Malpura and nearby areas for a long time. A fact-find report was recently handed over to the BJP state president. The report was prepared by a team of BJP leaders after a tour of the area.
