JAIPUR: A 17-year-old coaching student named Abhishek from Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room in Kota’s Kamla Udyan Nagar area.

Abhishek was preparing for NEET exams at a coaching institute and had been staying in Kota for almost two years. He had not attended coaching for several days and had been studying online in his room.

Abhishek’s suicide note was found, in which he wrote that he was responsible for his own death and that there was no pressure from anyone on him. He apologized to his family and friends and mentioned that he felt lost, which is why he wanted to die.

Abhishek had shifted to the hostel in the Kunhadi area eight months ago and had not been coming out of his room since Wednesday. Students in the hostel noticed a change in his behaviour over the past few days. Rajendra, who supplied food to the hostel, had last seen Abhishek on Tuesday when he had his meal. On Wednesday, Abhishek informed him that he would not be having dinner as he wanted to study.

The suicide was detected on Thursday night when the hostel authorities broke open Abhishek’s room after not receiving a response for 24 hours.

Abhishek’s mother had visited him a few days ago but had left 15 days before the suicide. Abhishek was the youngest of one sister and three brothers, and his father is in a government job. The post-mortem is being conducted in the presence of relatives. The police confirmed that there was no foul play and that Abhishek had taken his own life.
