Jaipur: An Ahmedabad-based businessman was rescued in Udiapur by a joint team of Gujarat and Rajasthan police almost five days after he was kidnapped by a gang of criminals, police officials said. The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh from the family members of the trader, Hanuman Singh. The police teams laid a trap and the ransom was paid to the kidnappers. However as soon as the kidnappers released the businessman, the police teams arrested four criminals.
A police officer said that the four men arrested by the police are Bheem Singh Datar Singh, Bhawani Singh and Hamer Singh, all of them residents of Nagaur, Sikar and Udaipur districts in Rajasthan.
Datar Singh is a class 4 employee with PHED. The police are searching for one more kidnapper Govind alias Gopi Singh who is on the run. He is a resident of Jaipur.
Hanuman Singh, a resident of Sardar Nagar, was on his way home from his shop Mateshwari Paints when he was kidnapped. His bike was intercepted by a white-colored car. The traders forced Hanuman into the car and sped away. They had tied up his hands and covered his eyes with a rug.
“They brought Hanuman to Udaipur and keep moving him from one place to another. They beat him up also. They called up his family members and demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh. The family members informed the police following which a hunt was launched for the kidnappers,” said a police officer.
“We had tracked the location of the kidnappers and followed them. Once the ransom was paid to them, we arrested the four men and rescued Hanuman Singh,” said the officer.
Hanuman had been released by the kidnappers as soon as the ransom was received.
