Jaipur: As the social media is abuzz with the news of actress Katrina Kaif and actor Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming nupital, the Six Senses Barwara Fort Hotel in Rajasthan has also hogged headlines.

Situated on the hill of Chauth Ka Barwara, about 25 km from Sawai Madhopur district headquarters, this hotel has been booked for the wedding function from December 7 to December 12. While a formal announcement is yet to be made, the local residents are enjoying all the buzz the news has created.

Barwara Fort was built in the 14th century. The architecture of this fort is incredible. Many kings contributed to the construction of this 700-year-old Rajputana style fort. Kharbooja Mahal was built by the rulers of Chauhan dynasty, Janana Mahal by the rulers of Hada dynasty, Mardana Mahal by the rulers of Rathod dynasty. The wall around this fort was built during the time of Raja Ratan Singh, son of Raja Fateh Singh.

After independence, with the end of the princely state and princely state, the bad days of this fort began. With the passage of time this grand fort turned into ruins and remained so till 2010. The fort was bought by the Cosmos Company for Rs 20 crores in 2010 and the renovation work began.

Nearly Rs 150 crore were spent on converting this fort – spread over one acre – into a hotel. Prithviraj Singh of the Barwara royal family is the CEO of Six Senses Hotel Group. Even after 10 years since the acquisition, the renovation work is still underway. The guests shell out up to Rs 1.25 lakh per day for a room here. The luxury rooms offer stunning views of the countryside, Barwara Lake and the Aravalli range. This property is located close to Ranthambore National Park, the natural habitat of tigers and many other wild animals.
