Jodhpur: Doctor arrested for conducting sex determination test for the third time

Dr Mohammed Imtiyaz was arrested for conducting sex determination
Jaipur: The PCPNDT cell of the medical and health department arrested a doctor identified as Mohammed Imtiyaz for conducting sex determination tests. This doctor has been arrested thrice for the same crime. He was deputed as block CMHO, but suspended when he was arrested for the first time in 2016. It is the first of its kind case in Rajasthan when a doctor has been held thrice for conducting sex determination tests. The accused man’s father was also once arrested for the same crime.
According to officials, Mohammed Imtiyaz was conducting sex determination test through a middleman identified as Hanuman Jyandi.
“A decoy woman contacted the middleman and offered to pay him for conducting a sex determination test. The middleman demanded Rs 35000. She agreed to pay the money,” said an officer.
When the woman reached Jodhpur from Jhunjhunu, Hamuman asked her to come to the railway station around 9 pm.
Hanuman took the woman to suspended BCMHO Dr Mohammed Imtiyaz.
A PCPNDT team caught Imtiyaz conducting the sex determination test on the woman and arrested him. Hanuman managed to escape under the cover of darkness, officials said.
They added that the doctor and his gang were involved in conducting at least 100 sex determination tests a month on average.
The doctor was first arrested in October, 2016 when he was deputed as BCMHO. He was suspended following the arrest. He was released on bail and again arrested in May 2017.
