Jodhpur: 11 members of Pak-migrant family found dead under mysterious circumstances

Jaipur: As many as 11 people from a family who migrated to India from Pakistan and were living in a rented home in an agriculture farm on the outskirts of Jodhpur were found dead under mysterious circumstances. The victims were farmers. It is suspected that they either committed suicide or consumed some poisonous substance accidently. Only one members of the family who was sleeping outside the house has survived. The police have launched an investigation.  

According to the police, the incident took place in Dechu police station area of Jodhpur. The only surviving member – identified as Kewalaram – told the police that the family had taken an agriculture farm on rent. All the family members were involved in farming.

Those who were found dead include Kewalaram’s parents, a brother, three sisters, two sons and daughter. They were identified as Budharam (75,) Antara Devi (70), Laxmi (40), Piya (25), Suman (22), Diya (5), Danish (10), Dayal (11), Tain (17) and Mukdash (16).

Kewalaram’s sister came to visit the family on Raksha Bandhan. She left the next day, but her two children stayed back. The family members had dinner at 9 pm on Saturday. They discussed how cows are destroying crops after the dinner. They went to bed at 11 pm. Kewalaram went out of the house for farming work at 11.45 pm and slept there.

When he returned at 6.45 am on Sunday, he found all of them sleeping which according to him was surprising because they used to wake up early. He realized that they were not alive. He started shouting for help and then called up his nephew. The police were informed.

“Prima-facie, it seems the family members may have consumed some poisonous substance or inhaled poisonous gas. ”
