Robbers made away with Rs 53,000

Jaipur: Unidentified robbers barged into a branch of Baroda Rajasthan Kshetriya Gramin Bank at Chhapoli village in Udaipurwati area of Jhunjhunu district in broad daylight on Saturday and robbed it of nearly Rs 53,000. The robbers pointed the gun at the manager and the cashier, locked them in a room and made away with the cash. On getting information from the employees, a police team was immediately rushed to the spot. Footages of CCTVs installed in the bank are being examined to identify the robbers. Police barricades were put up in the area, but the criminals couldn’t be traced till the reports last came in.

The incident took place around 3.20 pm. Two youths wearing helmets walked into the bank and pointed a gun at the manager, identified as Kailash Chouhan. They abused him and locked him in a room. Another robber covered the cashier, Jagdish Prasad with the gun and locked him also. They then collected nearly Rs 53,000 from the cash counter and escaped.

The cashier and the manager stated shouting for help. An eight-year-old child heard the cries for help and opened the door from the outside.

The manager then informed the police. A huge crowd of villagers gathered at the bank as the news of the robbery spread.

Police suspect that the number of robbers was three. One robber was guarding the entrance gate of the bank. He too was wearing a helmet. There was no customer at the bank at the time of the robbery.
