Jaisalmer: Youth honey trapped; arrested for sharing sensitive info with Pak’s ISI
Jaipur: The intelligence agencies have detained a youth for allegedly sharing sensitive information about the Indian-Pakistan border area with Pak’s intelligence agency ISI. The youth belongs to an influential political family of Chandan area of Jaisalmer district. He came in contact with some Pak women through social media platforms.
Chandan is located in the local air force firing range. Military exercises are carried out here on a regular basis. The intelligence agencies suspect that the youth shared details of military exercises and the army's movement in the area.
The intelligence agencies found that the youth deleted all the calls made to Pakistan and chats with his handlers immediately. The agencies are trying to retrieve the deleted data. Sources said that he came under the radar of the agencies after he made suspicious calls to Pakistan with an Indian SIM card. After keeping him under surveillance for a few days, he was taken into custody. The officials are interrogating him.
Many cases of honey traps have been reported in the recent past. Local residents are contacted by women on social media platforms. They then start having video calls. In many instances, these women blackmail their victims and threaten to make the call recordings public. They force their victims to share sensitive information about the army’s movement in the area.
