JAIPUR: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given the green light to the Rajasthan Sports Council to host three matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Jaipur.
It’s the first time that the Sports Council will be organizing IPL matches directly, without the involvement of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).
The decision comes after a series of events that led to a dispute between the RCA and the Sports Council. The RCA office was sealed, and 33 district cricket associations began preparations to bring a no-confidence motion against RCA President Vaibhav Gehlot. Subsequently, Gehlot resigned from his post.
The Sports Council took action against the RCA and took possession of its office on March 23. Despite efforts by district unions to name a new working president, unanimity could not be reached.
The BCCI’s approval for IPL matches in Jaipur is seen as a positive step forward for cricket in Rajasthan.
Renovation work has already begun at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, where sitting boxes are being constructed for spectators.
The Sports Council is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that this year’s IPL matches are held successfully and provide a good experience for fans and players alike.
