Jaipuria Hospital to have a trauma centre soon

The budget has been released from the Road Safety Fund of the Transport and Road Safety Department.

JAIPUR: Jaipuria Hospital in the city will soon have a state-of-art trauma centre. The trauma centre will be used for treating accident victims. The centre will be built over an area of 500 square yards at a cost of 5.78 crores. Administrative and financial approvals have been issued. The budget has been released from the Road Safety Fund of the Transport and Road Safety Department.

The department will release Rs 3.78 crore for civil work and Rs 2 crore for life-saving equipment and machines including sonography, ECG, X-ray and testing machines.

After the trauma centre is built, the injured patients coming to the hospital will be able to get timely treatment. Currently, critically injured patients are referred to the trauma centre of SMS Hospital. After the trauma centre at Jaipuria Hospital is built, the patient load on SMS Hospital trauma centre will decrease.

The administration has been trying to set up a trauma centre for a long time, but the project was stuck due to a lack of funds. But now the funds have been approved.

Some of the facilities that the trauma centre will have include:

  • 20 beds in the emergency ward, 2 tables in the operation theatre, and 4 beds in ICU.
  • From recruitment to medicine, investigation and treatment facilities under one roof.
  • Sonography, ECG, X-ray, Pathology, and Biochemistry test facility.
  • Neuro, orthopaedic surgeon, and cardiologist to be posted 24 hours a day.
  • A computerized centre to be set up. This will keep the family members informed about the patient.
  • CCTV cameras for monitoring the patient and family.
  • Waiting room for families.

Every year 10400 people die in accidents in the state. Out of this, 1100 people are killed in 3205 accidents in Jaipur district alone and 2745 people are injured. The second highest number of accidents are reported in Jaipur East and West. Together, 394 people die in 1400 accidents every year. Out of 33 districts of the state, the maximum number of accidents occur in Jaipur Rural and Ajmer district.
