Jaipur: Woman head constable arrested for blackmailing RPS officer
Jaipur: The city police arrested a woman head constable on charges of blackmailing and extorting a Rajasthan police service (RPS) officer. The RPS officer, Shyam Sundar Bishnoi, is currently posted as DSP, Hindoli in Bundi district.
The head constable who was arrested from Jodhpur police training centre was produced in a court that remanded her in 2-day police custody. The RPS officer had registered an FIR with Shashtri Nagar police station against her under IPC sections pertaining to extortion on May 3, according to preliminary reports. The woman had so far extorted Rs 5.50 lakh from the officer and was demanding Rs 50 lakh more. She threatened that she would lodge a rape case against him if the amount was not paid.
The head constable was in a relationship with the RPS office since 2019. The woman was deputed in Rajasthan police academy (RPA). The RPS officer was newly appointed. He was undergoing training at RPA at that time. They had a physical relationship. The RPS officer alleged that the relationship was based on mutual consent, but she started threatening and blackmailing him. Both are currently posted in Bundi district.
The RPS officer registered an FIR with Shashtri Nagar police station. The police launched an investigation after the head constable was named in the FIR. The police studied the call details and also put the mobile phones of the accused woman head constable under surveillance. The police took the head constable into custody. Sources said that she would be quizzed about her relationship with the officer during her police remand.
