Jaipur: Shyam Nagar police station ASI arrested for taking Rs 10,000 bribe

Jaipur: The Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Shyam Nagar police station in Jaipur after he was allegedly caught taking a bribe of Rs 10,000, according to agency officials. ASI Laxmi Narayan was taking the bribe to weaken a case registered with Shyam Nagar police station when he was trapped.

According to ACB officials, a man lodged a complaint with the agency against Laxmi Narayan. In the complaint, the ACB complainant stated that a case was registered against him with Shyam Nagar police station. ASI Laxmi Narayan was investigating the case. Laxmi Narayan allegedly offered to weaken the case if the ACB complainant paid him Rs 15,000, the officials said.

The ACB verified the complaint. Laxmi Narayan accepted Rs 5,000 at the time of verification, the officials said adding that the trap was laid on Tuesday.

“He was caught taking the remaining amount of Rs 10,000. He was arrested under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. He will be produced in a court,” said an ACB spokesperson.

In yet another trap, a clerk deputed in the court of special judge (gender crimes) was allegedly caught taking bribe. The clerk was identified as Kamlesh Kumar Meena. He was booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is going on.
