Jaipur: A Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officer, identified as Mohan Singh Charan committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train in Jaipur’s Kardhani area on Monday. The officer was currently posted in the Woman and Child Development department.

The police have recovered suicide note in which the officer allegedly stated that he was under depression for personal reason and nobody should be harassed for his extreme step. The police officials said that an investigation has been launched to ascertain what caused the RAS officer to end his life.

The 53-year-old officer lived in Nemi Sagar Colony of Vaishali Nagar along with his family. They received the information about a dead body lying on railway tracks in Kanakpura Railway Crossing area of Kardhani police station around 8.30 am. A car was parked nearby.

A driving license found with the victim and the car’s registration number helped police identify the officer. The police earlier assumed that the officer was killed in an accident while he was crossing the railway tracks, but it was determined that Charan had committed suicide after the recovery of the suicide note. The note contained his address and mobile number.

The officer’s family members told the police that he had left the home for a morning walk. It was his routine to go for a walk near Khirani Railway Crossing.

Charan was earlier posted as a commissioner in Jaipur Municipal Corporation. The body has been handed over to the family members after a postmortem examination. Further investigation is going on.
