Jaipur: Prahlad Modi – brother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi – staged a sit-in when he was not provided police security in Bagaru area of Jaipur on Tuesday. Prahlad was on his way to Pushkar from Jaipur along with his daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter. Prahlad raised objection over the lack of police escrot at two places on Jaipur-Ajmer national highway – first in Jaipur district and then in Dudu.

When Prahlad didn’t get police security after entering Duru police station area, he stopped the vehicle near Dantari. Dudu SHO Jai Prakash Beniwal rushed to the spot and provided police escort after consulting with senior police officers.

When Prahlad entered Bagaru police station area in Jaipur district, he again demanded police escort. When the local police station didn’t pay heed, he staged a sit-in for nearly four hours.

Prahlad Modi told media persons that being  a family member of the prime minister, he was entitled to police security.

“Whenever we travel, we are provided police security as per the orders of the union home ministry. The Bagaru police station officials didn’t follow the orders and refused to provide us the police escort. We were getting police security everywhere but as soon as we entered Jaipur, there was no security,” Prahlad told media persons.

A senior police officer however said that there was no provision of police security to the brother of the prime minister.

“We assigned two PSOs for the family’s security despite the fact that we didn’t need to,” said the officer.
