Jaipur: Modified traffic violation penalties under Motor Vehicle Act announced in Rajasthan

Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has announced the new increased penalties for different types of traffic rule violations under the Motor Vehicle Act. The penalties have been modified and are almost 10 times less than what the Union Government proposed. For jumping red-light, the penalty in Rajasthan is Rs 1,000, while the central government had proposed a penalty of Rs 10,000.

Here are the modified traffic violation penalties imposed by the Rajasthan government for bikes, cars and trucks in Jaipur and all other cities and towns, national highways etc:

  • Common violation – Rs 100 for two-wheeler such as bike, Rs 200 for four-wheelers such as cars
  • Speaking over mobile phone driving – Rs 1000
  • Driving without seatbelt – Rs 1000
  • More than two riders on a bike – Rs 1000
  • Driving bike without helmet – Rs 1000
  • Drunken driving – Rs 10,000
  • Not giving way to emergency vehicles – Rs 10,000
  • Dangerous driving – Rs 1,000 for bikes, Rs 10,000 for cars
  • Violating orders – Rs 500
  • Overspeeding – Rs 1,000
  • Overspeeding by heavy vehicles such as truck – Rs 2,000
  • Driving without insurance – Rs 2,000 for the first time offense, Rs 4,000 for the repeat offense
  • Jumping red light – Rs 1,000
  • Driving carelessly – Rs 500 for bikes and three wheelers
  • License expire or suspend – Rs 5,000
  • Racing bikes without permission – Rs 5,000 for the first offense, Rs 10,000 for the repeat offense
  • Driving without registration and fitness certificate – Rs 2000 for two wheelers
  • Driving without permit – Rs 10,000
  • Overloading – Rs 20,000 and then Rs 2000 per ton
  • Driving in restricted areas – Rs 20,000
  • Overloading in passenger vehicles – RS 100 per passenger
