Jaipur markets gears up for Diwali decorations

Jaipur: The festival of lights, Diwali, is around the corner and with that the excitement among Jaipurites to see their city in its entire splendor. Decorations across the city add a beautiful dimension to the capital city which is known to attract a huge number of visitors throughout the year. The streets and markets of the Walled City have started to glow as the festival gets near. Most of these places are being lit up using LED lights.

The Chandpole market is being decorated with colorful traditional lighting while the Chaura Rasta will have a distinct look with the usage of star-shaped lightings. The MI Road will display pink themed decorations representing the color attached to this historic city. Choti Chaupar is being decorated by creating a Lotus Gate reminiscent of the famous Lotus Temple of Delhi. The main entrance of this to be made towards the Chandpole market will be 80 ft long and wide.

The President of Jaipur Vyapar Mahasangh, Mr. Subhash Goyal stated that the Lotus Gate will appear pure white in the morning and once the lights are on, the color will change to pink and blue. According to the General Secretary of MI Road based Vyapar Mandal, Mr. Suresh Saini, the LED lights will be switched on by CM Smt Vasundhara Raje on the occasion of Dhanteras on the 17th of this month.

The five day festival of lights is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Rajasthan and particularly in Jaipur. Being a perfect mix of modern and ancient world, the city offers a unique travel experience to visitors during this festival period as well as throughout the year. Diwali starts with Dhanteras and ends on Bhaiduj which is the 5th day however celebrations stretch beyond these days and continue for nearly 10 days as different religious ceremonies are performed during this period.
