Jaipur: A youth barged into a house in JDA Colony Nagtalai on Sunday evening and stabbed a 21-year-old girl, Khushnaseeba Bano, to death and seriously injured her mother. The woman is battling for life at a hospital, according to police. Officials said that the accused man was a jilted lover. He was chased by locals when he was trying to flee from the house and handed over to the police. He was booked for murder.

The accused man, identified as Shakeel, is a painter by profession. As soon as he entered the house of Khushnaseeba Banu, he held her by her hair and stabbed her repeatedly – more than 5-6 times, police official said. On her hearing her cries for help, her mother Akhtari Bano, rushed to the drawing room and tried to save her daughter. He stabbed her also repeatedly. Khushnaseeba’s younger brother was flying kites on the rooftop. He rushed downstairs.

But when Shakeel went after him, the brother got to the rooftop and started screaming. The neighours rushed to the house and saw Shakeel fleeing from there. They caught him.

Shakeel is a resident Shakti Colony at Amagarh in Transport Nagar area. Police officials said that Shakeel had been proposing Khushnaseeba for the past five years, but when she continued to turn down his proposal, he decided to kill her. He slit her throat.

“Shakeel and Khushnaseeba used to go to the same school. Shakeel had proposed her when they studied together, but she refused. Shakeel later went to Saudi Arabia for work. He returned recently and started harassing the girl,” said a police officer.

Shakeel decided to murder the girl when she continued to turn him down. The murder case shocked the local residents who demanded a speedy investigation and trial in the matter.
