Jaipur businessman receives extortion call from gangster ‘Rohit Godara’; 2 arrested

Godara is a wanted criminal with multiple cases of attempt to murder, robbery, illegal extortion, and mining gravel against him.

JAIPUR: A businessman in Jaipur received threatening voice messages from an international mobile number.

The sender identified themselves as Rohit Godara, a notorious gangster based abroad. Godara threatened to reduce the businessman’s financed amount of Rs 200 crores to zero and leave him impoverished. The police have registered a case and arrested two miscreants involved in passing on the businessman’s phone number to the gangster..

Godara is a wanted criminal with multiple cases of attempt to murder, robbery, illegal extortion, and mining gravel against him. He has been operating his gang from abroad and has been issued a Red Corner Notice by Interpol. Dozens of cases have been registered against him for threatening to extort money from people in Rajasthan.

On February 1 at 6:25 pm, the businessman received an unknown message on his mobile phone that simply said “Hi.” When he didn’t respond, he received two calls within a minute from the same international number at 6:26 pm. A 11-second voice message followed at 6:30 pm, stating “How are you? This is Rohit Godara.” The caller threatened to reduce the financed amount of Rs 200 crores to zero if he didn’t comply with their demands. After this incident, the businessman lodged a complaint at Shyam Nagar police station on February 6th.

The police have arrested two active henchmen of big gangsters who provided the businessman’s mobile number and threatened him through call/video conferencing. These miscreants were identified as Vichitra Nitharwal and Lekhraj resident of Mauzmabad (Dudu) from Shyam Nagar. Many cases of attempt to murder, robbery, illegal extortion, and gravel mining are registered against them in various police stations across Rajasthan.
