Jaipur Airport gold seizure: 2 smugglers caught with 2 kg gold hidden in rectum

The gold recovered from them is valued at around Rs 1.33 crore.

JAIPUR: Two passengers arriving at Jaipur airport from Muscat were caught with 2 kg of gold hidden in their rectums. The smugglers are both residents of Rajasthan. The gold recovered from them is valued at around Rs 1.33 crore.

Customs officials at the airport received intelligence information about two passengers on flight OV795 carrying a large quantity of gold.

Upon thorough interrogation, both smugglers admitted to hiding the gold in their rectums. During a thorough search of their belongings, no gold was found. However, upon taking them to the customs office for further questioning, they revealed that they had hidden the gold inside them.

The first smuggler had 1045 grams of gold worth Rs 66.98 lakh hidden in his rectum, while the second smuggler had 1043 grams of gold worth Rs 66.85 lakh hidden inside him.

Both men will be presented in court today and sent to jail after being found guilty of attempting to smuggle illegal goods out of India.
