Jaipur: ACB arrests AEN, junior accountant in 12-year-old corruption case

Jaipur: Rajasthan anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested AEN Krishan Kumar Gupta and junior accountant Nehru Lal in connection with alleged corruption in the purchase of drinking water pipelines. Krishna Kumar was posted as a junior engineer when an FIR had been registered against him.
According to senior ACB officers, a bogus tender was issued to lay drinking water pipeline in Srimadhour town in Sikar district in 2006. The tender was for a work order of Rs 13 lakh, the officials in connivance with a contractor had Rs 28 lakh released fraudulently. It incurred a loss of Rs 14.14 lakh to the state exchequer.
A complaint had been registered in this regard by the ACB. The agency investigated the complaint and when found the charges to be genuine, it arrested Krishna Kumar and the junior accountant.
“Further investigation is going on,” said an ACB officer. The two government employees have been booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
