Israel-Hamas conflict: Police security stepped up at Chabad House in Pushkar

Jaipur: Keeping in view the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinian organization Hamas, the Rajasthan police department has stepped up security at the Israeli shrine ‘Chabad House’ in Pushkar town of Ajmer district.

This place of worship is very popular among Israeli tourists. Though the place is closed due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation, security guards have been deputed and CCTV footages are being monitored round the clock, sources said.

The place has been locked and no one is being permitted to visit it. Some Jewish religious leaders come to this place in September and stay here for a few months before leaving for their native places in April due to the scorching heat in April. No one is living here currently.

A caretaker said that the place remains closed for five months and reopens in September. Every year, thousands of Israeli tourists visit this place and offer prayers under the guidance of their religious leaders. Pushkar’s Chabad House had been under the radar of terrorists in the past too. The alleged mastermind of the Mumbai David Coleman Hadley had conducted a recce of the places following which the government started doing security checks. Police officers and security agencies conduct these security checks on a regular basis.
