International Short Film Festival to start in Jaipur tomorrow

128 short films to be screened during 3-day long festival

Jaipur: Short films drawing inspiration from world tourism and art will be showcased during the fourth International Film Festival in Jaipur, starting Tuesday. More than 125 short films including two from Rajasthan will be screened during the three-day long festival being held at Indralok Auditorium in Jaipur.

A total of 1503 applications were received for screening. Organizers selected 128 films. Two of the films have been shot by Rajasthan-based directors. The festival is being organized in association with the Department of Tourism, Rajasthan.

The festival board’s chairman Devendra Khandelwal said that films which criticize other nations or don’t abide by the various criteria of screening were not selected.

The festival’s objective is to introduce makers of short films all around the world and provide a platform to budding talents to showcase their creativity and avail the chance of winning an award for their excellent work, Khandelwal said.

The festival will be inaugurated by Bollywood actress Arti Chhabara. Actresses Smita Bansal and Anup Soni will participate as guests of honor. Anil Dhaawn, Vijyeta Pandit, Gajendra Chauhan and Mukesh Rishi will be in the jury.

‘Bharat Ki Rachyita – the creator of God’ will be the inaugural movie. ‘The Safe Game’ and ‘Sonam Gupta Bewafa Hai’, two movies entered into the contest from Rajasthan will be screened on March 29 and March 30 respectively.

Indralok Auditorium is located near Narayan Singh Circle in the city.
