Jaipur: Income Tax (I-T) department on Thursday carried out raids on two prominent business groups of Rajasthan. The IT teams consisting of nearly 300 officials and employees searched 43 locations belonging to the two groups involved in the marble and mineral business. The raids were carried out in Jaipur, Sawarda, Tonk, Deoli, Kishangarh.

The teams of I-T department’s Investigation Branch from Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur and Sri Ganganagar launched a coordinated search operation in the morning. The action was taken on reports of tax evasion and black money.

The raiding teams searched offices, godowns and other premises belonging to the two groups in the Marble Area of Kishangarh, Laxmi Narayan Vihar, Rajhans Colony and Prithviraj Nagar. Documents related to transactions were seized from Kekari-situated residences, some hotels, and offices. Raids were carried out at offices at mining locations in Savar.

Sources said that I-T teams are quizzing the two businessmen and their associates to collect information about undisclosed transactions. They are verifying the transactions that were entered into books. It is suspected that cash transactions worth crores of rupees that led to tax evasion might be unearthed.
