IAS officer’s brother arrested for duping thousands of over Rs 100 crore

Jaipur: Pali police have arrested a man, identified as Shaitan Singh Rajpurohit who allegedly duped thousands of people of Rs 100 crore after promising them unrealistic returns on their investment. The accused set up two companies by the name of Kheteshwar Urban Credit Cooperative Society and Universal Multi Purpose Society Multi State. He allegedly duped people in several states including Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Shaitan Singh has several cases registered with various police stations in Pali district alone.

“We got a tip-off that he was staying in a hotel in Sojati Gate area. Some policemen in plain clothes surrounded the hotel and arrested him,” said a police officer.
The officer added that his two brothers – Rajveer Sing hand Vikram Singh – have already been arrested by the police in connection with the fraud.
It is reported that Shaitan Singh is the brother of an IAS officer, but the officer had distanced himself after Shaitan Singh got involved in fraudulent activities.
The officer said that the accused had opened more than 50 branches of the two companies in several states. There are 14 cases registered against him in Pali, 28 in Sirohi and one in Jalore. In other states such as Gujarat, he has many criminal cases registered against him, the officer added.
