Jaipur: Congress MLA Rajendra Gudha alleged on Sunday that Sanjay Jain – the man arrested for his alleged involvement in horse trading of MLAs – met him a few months ago and offered him to join the BJP. Jain was arrested by the Rajasthan special operations group (SOG) under IPC sections pertaining to sedition and criminal conspiracy.

Gudha said that the Congress is in majority with the support of 100 MLAs. The BJP should demand a floor test in the assembly if it believed that the government is in minority. Not only Jain, but several other agents also were trying to make the MLAs join the BJP, but they didn’t succeed, Gudha alleged.

Gudha’s allegations has come at a time when the state is witnessing a political turmoil. Sachin Pilot was sacked as the deputy chief minister and Pradesh Congress Committee president.

BJP state president Satish Poonia said that the Ashok Gehlot government has lost the majority status. If the disgruntled MLAs resign from the party, the government will in minority. Despite this, the BJP will not propose a no-confidence motion.

“We are keeping a tab on the situation and will take a decision after taking a lot of things into consideration. We are not inviting Sachin Pilot to join the BJP, but he wants to join the party, he is welcome to do so,” Poonia said.

The union home ministry has sought a report from the chief secretary of Rajasthan over the allegations that the mobile phones of MLAs were tapped. The BJP has demanded a CBI probe into the matter.
