The incident happened on Friday and police booked the deceased’s parents for honor killing. FSL teams collected evidence from the cremation ground on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Preeti (15), a resident of Shankarpura Village near Phagi in Jaipur.
After the incident, parents informed the police that their daughter has committed suicide by self-immolation due to poor marks in exams.
FSL team and fingerprint investigative teams reached the village on Monday for collecting evidence. A postmortem examination was conducted and samples were taken for a DNA test. No one from the village came forward with any information related to the alleged honor killing.
Police suspect that it is a clear case of murder, not suicide.
According to the police, the girl’s father Gopal Puri and mother Parma suspected a love affair of their daughter Preeti with a local boy in Phagi. The villagers started a character assassination. Angered by this, Preeti’s parents burned her alive on Friday and cremated her body in the cremation ground of the village.
