High Court ban on holding public rallies, meetings during office hours at Amroodon Ka Bagh in Jaipur

Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court has ordered a stay on organizing public functions including rallies, fairs and meetings during office hours of working days at Amroodon Ka Bagh near Ambedkar Circle in Jaipur. The court instructed the state government not to give permissions to public rallies during office hours as it affects and disrupts traffic.

The division bench of MN Bhandari and DC Somani issued the stay orders on Wednesday. The court has instructed and asked chief secretary, home secretary, DGP, police Commissioner and DCPs to submit a reply within two weeks.

According to High Court Bar Association president Anil Upman, people faced several difficulties on Wednesday during the state-level teacher felicitation program held at Amroodon ka Bagh. Various officials were not able to reach offices due to traffic jams. Ambulances also got stuck in the traffic and passengers could reach Jaipur railway station on time to catch trains.

Lawyers and government officials have a hard time reaching their offices on time due to traffic jams when public meetings or rallies are held at Amroodon ka Bagh as the major government offices including secretariat, assembly and high court are there, Upman added.
