General coach of Aravali Express train derails in Ajmer; panic among passengers
Derailment might have happened as some cattle suddenly came onto the tracks in front of the train.
JAIPUR: A general coach of the Aravali Express that runs from Bandra Terminus to Shri Ganganagar derailed in Ajmer, causing panic among the passengers.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF), along with the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) and other railway officials, reached the site immediately after receiving the information about the accident and conducted an inquiry.
It has come up during preliminary investigation that the derailment might have happened as some cattle suddenly came onto the tracks in front of the train.
According to Ajmer Railway Public Relations Inspector Ashok Chauhan, the derailment occurred between Kharwa-Mangliyawas stations when some wheels of train number 14702 Bandra Terminus Sriganganagar Aravali Express derailed.
After the accident was reported, an accident relief train arrived at the site and started the process of lifting the derailed coach’s wheels. After some effort, the wheels were put back on the track at 2:37 pm, and the train will only be sent back after proper checking. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Chauhan stated that preliminary investigations indicated that the accident occurred due to cattle on the tracks. However, further investigation is ongoing, and any conclusive remarks can only be made after a thorough inquiry. The rescue operation took about an hour and a half to complete.
