Four labourers suffocate to death at factory in Bikaner

Jaipur: Four labour died of suffocation after they climbed into a septic tank at a wool manufacturing factory in Karani Industrial Area of Bikaner. The labourers were cleaning the tank. After the first labourer fell unconscious, three others climbed into it one by one. They all died.

The incident took place in the Bichwal police station area on Sunday afternoon. The labourers were identified as Lalchand, Kaluram, Chorulal and Krishna Ram. The factory owners had hired the labourers to clean the tank. Only Krishna Ram was an employee of the factory, according to police. Krishna Ram was a resident of Bihar. The remaining three were from Bikaner.

The was carbon dioxide remained in the tank. Due to this, one of the labourers who climbed into the tank fell unconscious. When he didn’t come out of the tank for a long time, two others climbed into it. Finally, Krisha Ram climbed into it to save the three. All the four labourers died.

According to the police, many types of chemicals are used to wash the threads used for making wool. The chemicals and other waste are stored in the tank. Three labourers were hired to clean this waste. After getting into the tank, Lalchand, Kaluram, Chorulal tried to get the waste using buckets, but no one could come out.

The labourers were pulled out and taken to PBM Hospital where the doctors declared them dead.
