Ex-top cop from Rajasthan Ajit Singh Shekhawat to be appointed BCCI ACU chief

Jaipur will host IPL matches after almost two years. The BCCI had banned RCA following which the cricket matches were not being organized at SMS Stadium.

Ajit Singh Shekhawat to be appointed chief of Anti Corruption Unit (ACU), BCCI

Jaipur: Former Rajasthan director general of police (DGP) Ajit Singh Shekhawat will be appointed as the head of anti-corruption unit (ACU) in The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). His appointment ahead of the IPL 2018 may go a long way in curbing the practice of spot fixing, corruption and betting in the T20 league. Sources said that Ajit Singh Sekhawat may join BCCI before the IPL begins on April 7.

1982-batch IPS officer Ajit Singh was appointed Rajasthan director general of police (DGP) in July 2018. Ajit Singh had played a vital role in containing damage amid public outrage against Anandpal Singh encounter. With an image of an honest IPS officer, Ajit Singh served as additional director general (ADG), ACB for five years.

Ajit Singh has also served as ADG (crime), IG (CID-CB), IG (Udaipur), and SP of Jaipur City, Jodhpur, Jaipur rural, Sawai Madhopur, Jhalawar and Sirohi, apart from holding many other positions in the police force.

Ajit Singh served as DGP Rajasthan for four months until he retired in November.
