JAIPUR: Good news for dog owners in Jaipur’s Nagar city as the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has removed the need for dog castration to register them.

Previously, a castration certificate was required for registration with JMC. Now it is optional and up to the owner whether they want to obtain a certificate or not.

Currently, there are over one lakh dogs in the city, but only 1% of them are registered with JMC. In an effort to increase registration rates and encourage pet owners, JMC decided to withdraw the mandatory requirement of dog castration for registration.

Experts have highlighted health issues faced by dogs due to castration such as increased risks of prostate cancer, kidney stones, diabetes, and aggression. The previous confusion surrounding the registration process led to doubts among owners.

With this new change by JMC, dog owners can now choose whether or not they want their pets castrated while registering them.
