Dholpur: 4 killed, 8 injured in firing between rival groups

Two others were killed when the first group retaliated. They were lynched by a mob. Heavy police force has been deployed at the former MLA Shivkumar Kishwaha’s house and other places in Dholpur to restore law and order.

Jaipur: A petty dispute between two groups of people in Dholpur town in Rajasthan turned violent as they opened firing on Thursday.

According to preliminary reports, four people were killed, while eight others were injured. One of the deceased is the husband of a local woman surpanch. he was killed in the firing. Two others were killed when the first group retaliated. They were lynched by a mob. One died while undergoing treatment at a hospital. Heavy police force has been deployed at former MLA Shivkumar Kishwaha’s house and other places in Dholpur to restore law and order.

The incident took place in Bhilganwa in Sadar police station area.

“One group had registered an FIR with Dholpur police against the other over a liquor dispute. The other group alleged that the charges were bogus. One group led by the husband of the local sarpanch Vikram Kumar reached the house of the other group. The verbal exchanged turned so violent that Vikram Kumar was shot dead ,” said a source.

The other group then beat up two men, identified as Ram and Deepu. Both were beaten to death. At least six people were injured. Former BJP MLA Shivram Kushwaha’s relatives were attacked by the first group.

The police were called to the spot. Senior police officers including ASP and local circle officer rushed to the hospital where injured were undergoing treatment. A large crowd of people gathered outside the hospital.

Tension was prevailing in the area till the reports last came in.
