Tea businessman commits suicide by jumping off 14th floor in Jaipur

The victim was allegedly depressed over debts as he had suffered huge losses in his business and was unable to pay off the money that he borrowed from loan sharks.

Jaipur: A 56-year-old tea businessman allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the 14th floor of an apartment building on Mahapura Road in Bhankrota area. The man identified as Pradeep Jain was a resident of Panchsheel Colony near Purani Chungi in Shyam Nagar police station area.

The victim was allegedly depressed over debts as he had suffered huge losses in his business and was unable to pay off the money that he borrowed from loan sharks. The police have recovered a four-page suicide note in which the trader accused some people of harassing him for money. The police have launched an investigation on the basis of the suicide note.

Bhankrota SHO Brij Bhusan Agarwal told media persons that Pradeep Jain reached the apartment building in his car around 9 am on Monday. He fooled the security guard to gain entry into the building and parked his car. He then went to the 14th floor of the building using a lift. He jumped off.

He died on the spot. The police arrived at the spot and identified the man with the help of his mobile phone. The cops suspect that he took some kind of poisonous substance before jumping off the building. Pradeep had vomited in his car. It has come up during preliminary investigation that he was under a debt of more than Rs 10 crore. He had purchased tea from some wholesalers in Assam and failed to pay back. The police have launched an investigation.
