Jaipur: BSP Supremo Mayawati on Thursday took to Twitter to accuse the Rajasthan government of being insensitive and negligent in the matter of the death of over 100 infants at JK Lone Hospital of Kota.

She went on to criticize Priyanka Gandhi without taking her name. Mayawati said it was unfortunate that the Congress high command – particularly its women general secretary – is silent over the tragic deaths.

Reacting to Mayawati’s tweets, Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot said that people should refrain from politics over the issue.

“We are very sensitive towards the deaths of the infants. It’s not a subject for settling political score. The infant mortality rate at the hospital is in fact going down and we are leaving no stone unturned to reduce it further,” Gehlot said in a tweet.

As the issue has hit headlines across the country, Rajasthan Congress incharge Avinash Pandey met Sonia Gandhi at her residence. It is learnt that he apprised her of the steps being taken by the government.

Avinash Pandey told media persons that it was a pre-scheduled meeting and a lot of issues were discussed.

“She (Sonia Gandhi) is very serious about the issue. Rajasthan CM has already sent a detailed report to her,” he said.
