Jaipur: As the number of Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases have crossed 100 in Jaipur, the Walled City which has become the epicentre of the virus spread turned into a fortress on Tuesday. The police and administration have imposed curfew more strictly in Ramganj and other nearby areas. People are not being allowed to venture out of their homes even for essential works. No curfew passes are being approved, even for media persons living in the Walled City areas.

The Walled City – particularly Ramganj – is completely out of bounds to everyone. No one is being allowed to enter as well as exit the area. Heavy police force has been deployed and checkpoints have been set up at each entry and exit point.

The number of COVID-19 cases reached 328 by Tuesday afternoon in Rajasthan. Twenty-seven people tested positive for the virus on Tuesday. Three new cases were reported in Jaipur, nine in Jodhpur, seven each in Banswara and Jaisalmer and 1 in Churu.

Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot had instructed the police and administration officials to take stricter measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the Walled City. Ramganj has reported more than 100 cases. A few other nearby areas also reported cases following which the curfew was extended to many other colonies.
